Natural Weathering or Coated Finish

Blackbutt is typically supplied in a natural, unfinished state, allowing flexibility in achieving the desired architectural finish on-site. Protective coatings may be applied to preserve colour and enhance long-term performance.

For maximum colour retention and long-term UV protection, we recommend Osmo UV-Protection Oil.

When correctly coated, installed, and maintained, Blackbutt delivers exceptional durability and a timeless natural appearance for many years.

Can Blackbutt be used for saunas?

Thanks to its heavy durability, Blackbutt Vee Joint Cladding is perfect for the exterior cladding of your sauna. Due to its high thermal conductivity, it is not suitable for use in the interior of your sauna.

Naturally durable and weather resistant, Blackbutt performs exceptionally well in exterior environments when properly coated and maintained. Its Class 1 above-ground durability makes it suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications, including:

High Density & Strength

With a seasoned density of approximately 900 kg/m³ and Janka hardness rating of 9.1, Blackbutt delivers excellent resistance to wear and impact.
