Premium European Red Oak – Thermo-Intense is a high-quality thermally modified hardwood cladding designed for architectural projects where natural character meets long-term performance.

Red Oak (Quercus rubra) is known for its expressive grain pattern and subtle reddish undertones. Through intensive thermal modification, the timber gains improved dimensional stability, durability and resistance to changing environmental conditions.

The result is a premium cladding material with a rich reddish-brown tone, suitable for decorative interiors, exterior façades and design-focused architectural surfaces.

Thermo-intense modification helps reduce the timber’s tendency to warp or cup over time, making Red Oak a reliable choice for demanding residential and commercial cladding applications.

Important Information

Wood is a natural material, and its changing appearance is part of its beauty. When used outdoors, the rich reddish-brown tones of thermally modified Red Oak will gradually weather into an elegant silver-grey patina over time. This is a natural response to UV exposure and moisture and is expected in exterior applications.

The original colour can be maintained by applying a UV-protective oil periodically, depending on the level of weather exposure.

Here is what you can expect as your timber ages:

Purely Cosmetic:
The colour change affects only the appearance of the timber and does not impact its structural integrity, durability, or decay resistance.

Natural Character:
Areas exposed to different levels of sunlight and rain may weather at different rates, creating a unique and naturally varied appearance.

The Choice is Yours:
If you appreciate the low-maintenance silver-grey patina, you can allow the timber to weather naturally. If you prefer to preserve the original reddish-brown tone, periodic treatment with a UV-protective oil will help maintain its appearance.

For maximum colour retention and long-term UV protection, we recommend Osmo UV-Protection Oil.
